I booked this hotel months ahead, but it still wasn't open. I only realised when I checked its Instagram as the date got closer. From what other reviews say, it seems they planned to put guests in another, cheaper Leonardo hotel at the last minute for the same price. It's outrageous to advertise and take bookings for a hotel that's still being built, just because they're desperate for business.

The hotel I booked wasn't open yet, but they got in touch and asked if I'd be happy to stay at their sister property, Leonardo, also in Edinburgh. It turned into a wonderful experience. Princess was a huge help: I asked her about Edinburgh Castle tickets and came away with tickets, plus a whole list of things to do in town and on some of my other travels around Europe. Definitely stay here, you won't regret it!

We came from Italy on November 12th after booking in September, only to find the hotel closed. Imagine our surprise! There had been no call or confirmation email beforehand. We rang the number on the reservation and Hotel Leonardo answered. They apologised and offered breakfast after hearing how unhappy we were. The welcome at that hotel was excellent, and I have nothing bad to say about it. But we'd paid more for a different kind of service, nobody contacted us in advance, and we weren't refunded the difference. Thank you, Hotel Leonardo. Even though the location is dated, despite having been renovated, the staff made the difference. NYX gave us a horrible customer experience. In Italy, we'd call it a sugar-coated scam. Disgusting. Shame.
