The room was clean, quiet and surprisingly spacious, and the bed was seriously comfortable. I slept really well each night, even after long days out exploring. The best part was how central the hotel is. The Castle, Grassmarket, Royal Mile and other main sights were all an easy walk, so I hardly needed public transport. Breakfast was hot, tasty and had enough proper English options to get the day started. It’s worth adding to your stay. The staff were friendly from the moment I arrived. They smiled, chatted and seemed happy to help, giving the hotel a warm feel. It’s comfortable, good value and in a perfect spot. I’d happily come back.

The staff made the difference for our group. Gee and Monika were so patient with me and my students, and the rest of the team at dinner were excellent too. Breakfast was great, and we had two dinners with different menus each evening, both good quality. The hotel itself is a standard three-star place in a wonderful location. Our room was big enough for four. You do have to ask each day for room service, but once you get used to it, it’s even a bit of daily English practice. I’d recommend it wholeheartedly, five stars well deserved.

We found the staff helpful and friendly, and the location was good, though getting back from the tram and Princes Street means a steep climb. I’d definitely stay again, and a big thank you to everyone working there. The room was comfortable and very clean, with good facilities, a lovely bed and mugs for tea and coffee instead of tiny cups. There’s no fridge, and the soundproofing is nonexistent, so we heard every word from next door. That’s fine with quiet neighbours, but ours were noisy. Dinner was nice, and we got a special deal for £26.99 that included two courses, a drink and all-inclusive breakfast the next day. Breakfast was less successful when the hotel was busy. One or two staff did their best, but there weren’t enough people to keep up, so tables were dirty and food ran out. The dining room wasn’t the easiest or best-organised place.

We had a great short getaway with friends for Edinburgh’s Christmas Market. The rooms were excellent, as usual, and the staff friendly and helpful. The location is a little out of the way, about a 20-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station and the city centre. It wasn’t much of a problem, since we never waited more than 10 minutes for a cab into town. We didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant, as there were lots of options nearby, and plenty of delivery choices through Uber Eats and Just Eat.

Dear Premier Inn Team, I’m writing because our check-in today at your Lauriston Place, Edinburgh branch was disappointing. We arrived around midday and offered to pay extra for early check-in, but were told the rooms wouldn’t be ready until 3 pm. We understood and waited in case an earlier room became available. When it was clear that wouldn’t happen, we left our bags and went to lunch. We came back around 2:45 pm and joined the queue. Guests who arrived after us were helped first, but we stayed patient. When it was our turn, we got our keys and were then asked to wait for our bags. We accepted, though we were already tired by then. When we politely checked with another colleague, the same staff member answered very abruptly and rudely. They told us to wait again because they were busy and accused us of arguing, even though we were only asking to be prioritised over people who had not checked in yet. It felt disrespectful in front of other visitors, and there was no effort to help or show empathy. The staff seemed underprepared and overwhelmed by the rush, which may have played a part, but that doesn’t excuse the lack of courtesy. My partner works for Premier Inn, and as a family we’ve stayed at several of your hotels and always been treated well. That made this experience all the more disappointing. We’re only here for one night and are unlikely to return to this branch. I hope this feedback helps improve future guest experiences. Kind regards, Namrata
