Riccarton Inn

The food was very well prepared and presented, and there’s a good range of dishes for different tastes. The cosy venue is popular with locals, and dogs and families are welcome. The outdoor booth is great. Inside, a few areas could do with attention, especially near the TV, where it feels cramped and the decor looks tired. A real fire would be a lovely feature if possible. The service was excellent, and the chef’s work suggests there’s room to be even more creative.

Hazel and the team made this another great visit. We brought our pup in for a Sunday Roast and had a lovely time in a booth, taking in the busy, friendly country pub atmosphere. There was plenty to choose from on the extensive menu, along with a wide selection of beer and wine. We started with a fantastic haggis dish, then had tender beef with a giant Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. We shared a delicious crumble for dessert.

The bar had such a friendly atmosphere when we stopped in for a family dinner on Saturday night, and the food was great. Every member of staff was kind, attentive, smiley, and welcoming. They’re clearly trained well and are a real credit to the pub. We’ll be back and will recommend it to friends.

The rooms are basic but comfortable, and just right for my needs when I’m working nearby. The Riccarton Inn bar is clearly popular with locals, but service was still quick, and we were well looked after even though it was our first visit. The food and beer were excellent. There’s no breakfast available, which makes sense with only five bedrooms, but Molly's or Corner Cafe are nearby for a fantastic breakfast. I’ll be back in the area in a couple of weeks and will book The Riccarton Inn again.
