My room, number 3, was spacious, and the bathroom had a decent amount of room. The rate was really low for my three-night stay, and there’s private parking for customers. The location was good, somewhere between the centre and farther out. There’s no lift, and nobody offered to help with luggage. My room’s windows were almost unusable and the curtains were pitiful. The shower head was broken off the wall, and the bath plug wouldn’t open. Staff weren’t very friendly, and apart from an English breakfast there was nothing on offer for breakfast.

The hotel was in good condition, with a smart-looking bar and dining area. Staff were friendly, and we had a good stay. We were in room 9 on the second floor. The room was tidy but very small, with nowhere to sit and relax, and the bathroom was even tighter. Sitting on the toilet, you could rest your head against the opposite wall. They offered help with our bags, but carrying them upstairs was still a pain. A lift would be useful. I’d recommend the hotel, though I’d suggest getting a bigger room.

The staff were incredibly friendly, and breakfast was included. It was simple but satisfying, though I found the coffee awful, probably just my personal preference. The bus made getting to the city centre easy, and I’d stay again, preferably not on the top floor. The hotel is beautiful, with a lovely conservatory restaurant and a remarkable original staircase. Our bedroom was being repaired when we arrived, which was a surprise, and there were several cracks in the wall paint. Otherwise the bedroom was comfortable and nice, if a bit warm. The bathroom was excellent. I wanted to take the shower home!

The restaurant breakfast was great, and the people were very nice and helpful. We were in Scotland in April 17 to pick up our daughter from her LDS mission, with two other adult children along. The old building has updated rooms. We were upstairs, where the room and bathroom were very adequate, while the three kids had a very nice suite on the main floor. A great experience for our family.
