Fresh fruit, baked goods and tasty choices were served for breakfast every day, and our room and ensuite were just right. The Guesthouse is beautiful and close to the sights we wanted to see. We walked almost everywhere, with a bus stop right outside for when we needed it. Vivienne was a wonderful host, always available and full of thoughtful suggestions. The book in the room was packed with useful information on restaurants, things to see, buses and just about anything else we needed. After a hectic couple of weeks travelling, her help made it easy for me to relax. The good reviews we read beforehand were spot on. Highly recommend for a visit to Edinburgh.

The rooms are clean, thoughtfully furnished and just right for a city break. Sherwood guest house is a lovely place to stay, close to the city centre and well connected by public transport. The best part is Vivienne, the owner and hostess. She's so nice and accommodating, and knows Edinburgh really well.

For two nights on our honeymoon road trip, my husband and I stayed here, and it was a wonderful choice. We could walk all over Edinburgh each day, return when we were tired and head back out again in the evening. The location was ideal. Vivienne made us feel at home right away. She’s warm and a wonderful host, and both the room and breakfast were good quality. I’d highly recommend Sherwood Guest House to anyone travelling here.

The bus stop right outside makes it easy to get around the whole city. This is such a cozy, lovely place to begin an adventure through Scotland, and Vivienne is a delight: friendly, full of local knowledge, and with a laugh that brightens your day. I wanted to feel at home, and after the first night I was already calling it home. Thank you, Vivienne. I really hope we can keep in touch! Love, Michael and Danielle.

The room is on the small side, so it's good to know that before you arrive. That wouldn't put me off coming back, though. Vivienne is a great host, breakfast is generous, and the neighbourhood is quiet with really good bus connections. The room and its furnishings were fine apart from the size.
