The room didn’t provide the basics I expect from a hotel. The boiler stopped working overnight, leaving me without heating or hot water for a shower, and neither had returned by the next morning. I was offered another room, but if the boiler was faulty, moving wouldn’t have solved it. Noise was another serious problem. Doors slammed, every conversation carried, and I couldn’t sleep for more than an hour or two at a stretch. A much cheaper Premier Inn was far quieter, with soft-close doors. The location was great, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. After I checked out, I emailed management politely. They offered £40 off this stay and a discount on a future one. With rooms usually costing over £200 a night, that didn’t come close to fair compensation. I’d have to spend around £400 in total to get only about £70-80 off. I turned it down because the offer felt extremely poor for the experience, and I don’t plan to return. I’ve stayed at the Premier Inn down the road for almost half the price and had a much better stay.
