The Cooperage Apartment No 6, The Shore

Ally was a fantastic host. Another apartment let us down at the last minute, leaving us with nowhere to stay, but within an hour of contacting him we were settled into The Shore apartment. It's a lovely little place in a great part of Leith, surrounded by nice restaurants, shops and cafes. Buses to central Edinburgh run from almost right outside. The flat had everything we needed, with heaters that warmed the rooms quickly and comfortable beds. There were plenty of towels and spare bedding and pillows. Being on the ground floor helped my mum, who has mobility difficulties, and the three locked doors made it feel very secure. We'd definitely use it again.

The apartment is in an attractive, convenient spot, with buses stopping right outside. It's quiet, cosy and very comfortable, in an older building that's been nicely refurbished and furnished. There's no assigned parking, but we found plenty of free spaces in a nearby public car park behind the apartment block.

The owner was friendly and very helpful. There are lots of good places to eat and drink nearby, and a bus stop across the street takes you into Edinburgh. It's a great apartment in a fabulous location, and I'd definitely recommend it for a visit.

A decent ground-floor, two-bedroom flat with a small kitchen and living room. It would suit four to six friends.
