The rooms looked very pretty, but the beds and pillows were unbelievably uncomfortable, with no way to make the situation better. We also struggled to control the temperature and had to keep the windows open so we wouldn't boil. The service felt distinctly unfriendly. Breakfast was only served from 8-9:15, checkout was at 10:30, and a late checkout cost $25. Lots of small hotels and B&Bs manage room turnover without such restrictive times. It felt like they just didn't want customers to be an inconvenience. We'd just come from two amazing hotel stays, so this was a huge letdown.

The breakfast was generous, with several choices, from a full Scottish breakfast with haggis to porridge and a vegan option. The rooms were roomy and cozy, though the bathroom felt dated and there was no shower gel. Staff were very friendly, and the hotel is pleasant, but it’s a bit removed from everything else, with few nearby restaurants or pubs. A nice place to stay, recommended.

Getting around was easy: we walked to the sights, and transport links are only a few minutes away. Sheree at reception, the bar, and breakfast service was so helpful, and the food was tasty and freshly made. Our room and ensuite were exceptionally comfortable, and both the private and public areas were spotless. We’d highly recommend it.

We found the hotel very clean, with friendly, helpful staff and a tasty breakfast to get the day going. It’s beside the Botanical Gardens and only a short walk from the city centre. I’d happily recommend it to friends and hope to come back.

The four-poster room worked for us with a cot, though I think other rooms would be a squeeze with one. Breakfast was fantastic, and there’s a nice little TV and bar area. Staff were lovely and helpful. The bus stop for the centre and castle isn’t far away. I’d stay again if we return to Edinburgh.
