Our top-floor flat was bigger than I expected, and the views from three sides were incredible. The kitchen had everything needed to cook a gourmet meal, while the shower had hot water and strong pressure, and there was a deep tub too. I loved the character of the old building, even if the stairs were a bit steep. The front desk staff gave us a friendly welcome and great service. The location is fantastic. I’d recommend these apartments to anyone visiting beautiful Edinburgh.

Leanne at Reception was wonderful. It’s refreshing to meet someone who clearly loves their work and enjoys interacting with people. She gave us helpful tips on what to do and where to go in the city. We had a brilliant stay at Citystay, and the apartment suited our needs perfectly. It was cosy and warm too. Thank you!

The apartment is right on the royal mile, with most major sights within walking distance. It was exceptionally clean, the wifi worked well, and the hosts were pleasant. Checkout was simple. We checked in during the day, so I can’t say how it works outside office hours. The kitchenette was stocked with pots, pans and other basics, and I thought the First Aid kit was a thoughtful addition. I had no issues with the apartment itself. Keep in mind, though, that the staircase is quite narrow, which could be difficult for older people, young children or anyone carrying luggage. It’s also a busy part of town, and there’s noise outside late into the night.

A comfortable, spacious place in a great Royal mile location. The staff were very friendly when we arrived and helped with our bags. The stone spiral staircase is worn and narrow, and carrying suitcases up and down can be especially hard if you’re in a higher-floor flat. The dishwasher didn’t work, and the washing machine had similar problems. During the Fringe festival it can get quite noisy. Outside that period, it’s a great place overall.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and for three-star accommodation this was comfortable and good value. There’s parking in the adjoining car park for a fee. The building is a bit old and shows its age. It seems aimed at young people and students, so it may not suit more mature guests.
