W Edinburgh

Liam made a big difference throughout our visit. He was warm and professional, and seemed genuinely committed to making our stay special. The whole team's service was attentive in a way we've rarely experienced. The views from our room stretched over Edinburgh's rooftops, spires and distant hills, and waking up to that panorama each morning was unforgettable. The building itself is striking, with bold, sculptural modern architecture that sits comfortably alongside the historic skyline. The lobby, hallways and room were all spotless, with fresh linens and careful housekeeping throughout. We've stayed in exceptional properties all over the world, but the W Edinburgh stands above them all for us. We can't recommend it highly enough and will absolutely return.

The stay would have been an easy five stars if not for the noise at Sushi Samba. The W Lounge was closed for a private event one night, so guests were moved to Sushi Samba a floor below. That arrangement was understandable, but the event had a loud DJ, and the large opening between the two venues meant we heard the DJ in one ear and the restaurant music in the other. It made for an awful atmosphere. Guests should at least have been told before being seated, and turning off Sushi Samba's music would have avoided the clash at no extra cost. Apart from that, the location was excellent, the rooms high quality, and the Marriott Bonvoy elite recognition and appreciated upgrade were wonderful. Front desk, housekeeping and breakfast staff were all excellent, helpful and kind.

Breakfast was brilliant, with lovely views and great staff. Check-in was a treat too, with a nice mocktail and a complimentary upgrade. I'm heavily pregnant, and the team really made an effort to keep me comfortable and accommodate me. Everyone we met was polite, kind and professional, which made the stay feel special. They even had a customised baby onesie delivered to our room, such a lovely touch. Fantastic one-night stay at the W Edinburgh, in a great location. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Everyone we met, from the doormen and reception team to the bar and breakfast staff, was focused on making guests feel looked after. They clearly care about the experience. The location is excellent too, around a 30-minute Bolt ride from EDI and within walking distance of shopping, groceries, dining, Waverly Train station and the royal mile. We were delighted to get our requested W Suite upgrade through Platinum Elite benefits. It was huge, modern, clean and comfortable, and the outdoor terrace was outstanding, with dining furniture, Fatboy seating, loungers and a fire pit. For my birthday, the W left a sweet note, champagne and a sweet treat at check-in. Thank you, W Edinburgh, for a memorable birthday stay at your lovely property.
