The rooms were just about acceptable, but the service was terrible. We had a booking problem, which I admit was our fault, and since we were tourists we hadn't provided a phone number. After our first night, we came back to find our luggage left outside our room with no warning. They'd seen us in reception that morning, but the manager had only emailed us. Honestly, who checks email while on holiday? When we tried to explain our side, the older Italian woman, apparently the manager, jumped to conclusions, was very rude and unprofessional, and scolded us. She only wanted us to accept her point of view, and didn't help resolve the problem. The room itself was passable, but showering felt unsafe because the floor was very slippery. My son fell, and the carpet got very wet after showers. There were holes and cracks all over the old walls, which I can understand given the building's age. The service was the worst I've had. I'll never come back.

The room had several problems: cracks in the door, a handle coming loose, and a shared bathroom that hadn't been mentioned in the reservation. They didn't provide flip-flops, robes for walking to and from the bathroom, or toiletries. The water barely got hot, and the man at the concierge desk wasn't helpful. When we raised our concerns, he gave us an email address to request compensation or another room. Getting inside was frustrating too. We rang the bell three times before anyone answered, and when they did, they seemed annoyed we were there. We were told to return at 2 to check in, which we did. I'd give this place zero stars if I could. I wouldn't recommend it, and I'd warn people to cancel and book somewhere else.

The posted phone number on the front of the building and in the confirmation email was wrong, so double-check it before you go. Otherwise, the large rooms are comfortable, and the women running the place are quite nice. It's very handy for both the bus and train stations, making it easy to arrive and get to local sights or other cities.

The team are really warm and friendly, and the location is great. Rooms look a little dated, but they have what you need, including a bed, hot water, and a toilet. There’s a construction site behind the hotel, which was the main downside. They started digging at 7 a.m. and carried on until around 7-8 p.m.
