York Place Apartment - Luxury City Centre

We’ve just returned from a fantastic stay with my family in the five-bedroom apartment at 24 York Place in Edinburgh. It was exceptionally clean and comfortable, and the beautiful apartment had acres of space over two levels. Destination Edinburgh were faultless as hosts, with clear, easy communication before and throughout the stay. They even sent us a phone app with all the details we needed. We’ve stayed in Edinburgh apartments before, but this one was on another level. Outstanding, and we’re already looking forward to going back.

We’ve visited three times now and have thoroughly enjoyed every stay. This time our first-floor apartment was enormous and well equipped, with huge rooms and very high ceilings. The main issue was that neither bathroom door lock worked. That was awkward with our two daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren there, though we came up with a way to show when the toilets were occupied. It’s a great base for the city, within easy walking distance of Princes Street, the main shopping areas, and tourist sights, so I’d definitely recommend it. Just be aware there’s very little parking at the apartment on a busy main road. We dropped off our luggage by pulling onto the wide pavement outside, then parked in the multi-storey farther down the street. We’d seen delivery vehicles stop there before, and there was room as long as you’re quick. With small children, there always seems to be loads of stuff to bring. We’ll almost certainly come back, as we always love our visits.

The apartment was warm and comfortable, with lovely high ceilings. It’s near the centre of Edinburgh, so I didn’t have far to walk to see the sights.

York place is a beautiful apartment in a fantastic area, but it was really noisy because of the people upstairs. I tried calling the number provided to complain, and they didn’t seem interested. It was disappointing, and I felt they made no effort to sort the problem out. The generic email I got had a backhanded apology. I won’t stay there again.
