The food was delicious, and the young woman serving it and the drinks was so warm and friendly. She was lovely and helpful with information too. 5 stars.

There’s Wi-Fi, plus a bar with pool tables. Some of the roomy bedrooms can sleep up to five people. Sunday dinners are served, and meals are available on most days, but call ahead to check.

I checked Google, which said the place was open, so I left to find dinner elsewhere. When I got there around 5:30 on a Tuesday, it looked locked up and deserted, with the bar lights off and no indication of whether it was open. It’s down a country road, so you’re taking a chance going there.

The Sunday lunch was lovely, with tender meat, lots of vegetables and delicious gravy. It was all home cooked and wasn’t pricey. It seems to be a place the locals go, and I’ll definitely come back. I didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t say what the rooms are like. I’d been a bit unsure after reading the reviews.

We stopped in randomly around midday for coffee before our next activity. Breakfast had finished and there were no guests in the bar or restaurant, but the incredibly friendly owner or staff offered to make us some anyway. They put together a big pot for us to share and gave us biscuits too. Nothing fancy, just really good service and a real effort to make us feel welcome.
