Holiday Inn Ellesmere Port by IHG

Finding a parking space was difficult, and the spaces felt very tight. But once we got inside the hotel, the welcome was warm and we felt well looked after. The staff are lovely, the rooms are what you'd expect from a Holiday Inn, and breakfast was nice too.

The restaurant food was good, and the hotel is by a lock, which made for a nice view while we ate. We were upgraded to a lovely superior room with everything we needed, though the pillows were a bit too hard and heavy, with no alternative in the room. There was a children's party and an engagement party during our one-night stay, so it was a little noisy and the pool was busy. Sleep was much worse because the very rude neighbour opposite kept letting the door slam when he went out for cigarettes, right through the night and until after 3am. We rang room service for help, but he wouldn't answer the door. We didn't get to sleep until 4:30am. We complained at reception when we left in the morning. We understand the neighbour's behaviour wasn't the hotel's staff's fault, but we were stressed after getting so little sleep. The staff were brilliant and very helpful trying to sort it out, and they gave us a very good discount off the bill, which we greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We dropped in for breakfast as four adults and two kids, and the kids ate free, so it was excellent value. The morning team were friendly and did a great job keeping the food and drinks topped up. There was plenty to eat and it was really tasty. I'd highly recommend breakfast here.

We're not hotel guests, but friends and family recommended the pool because it was nice and warm, and we really enjoyed it. Louise from the waterways leisure club was so kind, friendly, chatty and professional. She was lovely with my two daughters, who absolutely loved her. People like her deserve recognition. Thanks again, we'll keep recommending the place and look forward to our next booking. We'll book this time 🤣 Jamie
