I’d read some of the reviews beforehand, but my stay was nothing like that, and they seemed exaggerated. The rooms were super clean and the atmosphere comfortable. There’s a game room downstairs, which I thought was neat. I had a very comfortable seven-day stay, with lots of great scenery around. I’d recommend it to anyone considering staying in or around the Sutton area.

The kitchen was a brilliant place for everyone to spend time together, with a lovely garden just outside. The cottage is well equipped and lovely for a large group wanting a countryside getaway. The owners were quick to reply, happy to help with anything, and had great tips for local places to eat. We’d definitely come back.

The house was easy to find and had ample parking, with the river right next door where the children could swim and paddleboard. There’s a lovely outdoor area with a BBQ, seating and play spaces for kids, plus a well-equipped kitchen that opens onto a balcony. All eight of us, across three generations, were comfortable across the four suites, each with its own bathroom. Two suites also had sofa beds. Loraine was kind and very accommodating after our original booking was withdrawn with less than 24 hours’ notice. We can’t thank her enough. I’d definitely recommend the place, though it would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues.

We had a really relaxing stay, and the kids have already asked to come back. The cottage feels like a home away from home, with thoughtful touches throughout and fun outdoor areas. It’s extremely spacious and stylish, with some original elements retained. The Anchor is a lovely base for a family holiday, well placed for Cambridge, Ely and the surrounding area, with a river nearby and nice walking routes. We’d highly recommend it.

The accommodation was beautiful, spacious and tucked away in a lovely secluded spot, with beautiful walks starting right outside. Our host was welcoming and friendly, communicated brilliantly and went out of her way to handle my special request. She replied very quickly, too. Everything was clean and high quality, with lots of thoughtful extras in the room. Next time I’d choose the suite with access to the roof garden, which looked like a lovely sun trap.
