The narrow old streets of Ely house medieval gateways, timbered houses and parkland, sweeping down to the lovely River Great Ouse, where there are boating and fishing facilities. Historically there is much to seen in the area, with the fine cathedral, Cromwell's house and the history of local saints such as St Etheldreda. Cambridge is close by and offers other historic buildings, as well as good shopping. Newmarket, famous for horse racing, is just 19 km away. Ely Railway Station is just 1. 6 km from the property. The food tasted amazing, and everyone enjoyed the meal. It was great value, too. The staff were so friendly and cheerful. My only little complaints are that the chips portion was very small and the toilets weren’t very clean.

The location is hard to beat, just a two-minute walk from the cathedral, right in the middle of town. We went to evensong on Saturday and came back Sunday to look around properly. There’s a residents’ car park, which is really useful there. We ate at the hotel Saturday evening and enjoyed it, especially for the reasonable price. Breakfast, which was included, was excellent as well. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, and we had a lovely overnight stay.

The rooms have character, and the whole stay was a great experience. It was spotlessly clean and quiet, and we never heard the pub downstairs at night. The staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. The food was phenomenal, and breakfast is not to be missed. A special thanks to Lesley, Sharon, and Gina for being so kind. It’s right by the shops and Cathedral, and the best place to stay in Ely. We love this special place and will definitely be back. Five stars!

Lesley was a wonderful server, warm, friendly, and attentive, and the house Cabernet Sauvignon was excellent. The food was delicious, too, even though the turkey had run out by the time we arrived a little late. The menu had a lovely range, from pub classics to a traditional roast with all the trimmings. We were passing near Ely on Sunday and needed a late lunch. After striking out trying to book a few places, we stopped at The Lamb Hotel on a whim and were lucky to get a table. Parking was easy, with plenty of spaces, including several for disabled visitors. It’s ideally placed, about 150m from one of England’s most beautiful cathedrals. A really enjoyable meal and a happy discovery. We’ll be back!

We went for a birthday lunch, and the food was delicious. I was disappointed to pay over £3 for bought-in onion rings. I’d have expected homemade ones at a nice establishment, though to be fair the menu didn’t say they were homemade, so I’ve learned to ask next time. I ordered apple crumble, then was told when it arrived that they didn’t have any, and what I’d been given was apple in a pastry case. If they’d told us when I ordered, I’d have chosen something else.
