We had one drink and left. It felt like you had to live in the village and be the right sort of person to fit in. They weren't friendly to strangers, and we were constantly eyed up. Otherwise, stay away.

The Sunday lunch was awful, and so was the service. I've never seen such a sorry dinner. They plonked it in front of us without offering sauces or even saying enjoy. I caught the lady's eye behind the bar, and she came over and said, "yeah doesn't look great does it" before taking it away. Then she called over the bar, "that's all we've got sorry!"

It was disappointing that they stopped serving tea and coffee after 8pm when the kitchen closed. The staff were a disappointment too, constantly talking on their mobiles while serving behind the bar and kissing in the doorway. Not very professional. The open mic night itself was good, the drinks selection was good, and the place felt comfortable and traditional while still modern in its own way.

The locals are a friendly bunch, and the landlord really makes you feel at home. This is a proper village pub with excellent food. Best pub I've been to in a long time, a little slice of heaven. Wish it could be my forever pub! Oh, and there's parking too.
