We had a fantastic stay at the Customs House in Belcoo, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout. Dinner was outstanding: the chicken burger and lamb dish were great, and we finished with cheesecake. The cocktails were 10/10, and breakfast the next morning was just as impressive. Our room was spotless, stylish and comfortable, with lovely village views and thoughtful details. The Rituals products in the bathroom were a real treat. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Took my mum out for a meal before Mother's Day, and the food was delicious. Those were the best onion rings I've ever had! The portions were generous, so nobody's going home hungry. Our server was so kind and helpful and made the whole visit really pleasant. Big well done to everyone there.

Room 7 was dreadful, mainly because of where its window is. It looks out over the kitchen extractor fan and waste bins, so there was fan noise late into the night, then again when breakfast began, along with the noise of glass being disposed of at closing time. Worst of all, kitchen air poured into the room and the smell clung to our clothes. The room was clean but cramped, with a filthy window covered in outside splatters that looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The bedding wasn't very clean either, and the inner duvet was tired and no longer fresh. We had planned to eat both breakfast and dinner here for all four nights, but after the first evening we cancelled the remaining dinners. We weren't impressed enough to keep paying £75 for two for another three nights. Breakfast was very poor. The vegetarian option felt insulting: they took the meat off the standard breakfast and served carbohydrate-heavy soda bread and potato scone, with no veggie sausage or bacon, just a fried egg. On the third morning, we asked for marmalade with toast and were told no because there was raspberry jam, despite having been given marmalade the two previous days. The server on three mornings was friendly and helpful, but the different waitress on day three seemed unable to be bothered. Service was extremely slow, with food taking 20 minutes to arrive. It was cold on three mornings, served on cold plates. Even getting butter or a second knife meant waiting to catch a waitress's attention. We expected the basics, but got pretentious menus and an attitude that made it seem they were doing us a favour by having us stay. In all my years of business and leisure travel, this ranks among the poorest stays, primarily because the room was dreadful.

My partner and I had a fantastic meal here last night. We both ordered steak and really enjoyed it. The waitresses came over to take our drink orders before we had even received a drink, and the manager took time to choose a wine that suited what we wanted. We'll definitely return to Belcoo just to eat here again. A fantastic experience.

The setting is peaceful and scenic, with plenty nearby to explore. Customs House Country Inn has a welcoming feel, and the hosts are often praised for being friendly and attentive. My room was clean, cosy and nicely designed, and the facilities and character made it a comfortable place to stay.
