Chi Restaurant - Restaurant with rooms

Dartmoor National Park is right on the doorstep, so it’s a great spot for walks and exploring. The beaches are close too, and Exeter town centre is only 15 minutes away by car. Our stay was lovely. The food was excellent and the staff were helpful and professional, going above and beyond to accommodate us. The room was spacious and very comfortable, with an en suite shower. It was spotlessly clean, and had tea, coffee, towels, toiletries, slippers and even spare toothbrushes. Would definitely recommend.

The dining room was packed, and some tables are so close together that it could feel uncomfortable, especially if you’re seated where staff need to pass. They first offered us a table in the middle, where people would have had to squeeze past the tightly packed chairs, but luckily moved us to one at the side. The staff were very attentive, and it’s a nice restaurant. We’d wanted to try Chi restaurant for ages because it looks lovely from the road and seems to have a good atmosphere. We went for my partner’s birthday. The starters were nice, but my main was bland and short on flavour, which was a real disappointment as I’d been looking forward to it. I mentioned it to the waitress, who said she’d spoken to the chef, but no replacement was offered and that was the end of it. I didn’t finish the dish. They brought two prawn crackers each when we sat down. I’d have liked more with the main course, but none were offered. After this experience, especially the way my main was handled, I’m not sure I’d go back.

The food was really amazing, and the staff were friendly and attentive with great service. Just know that it’s very pricey.

We’d stopped here before and had a memorable dinner, so came back. The food was just as good this time, but service was slow to get going and then disappeared altogether. We skipped dessert because nobody came to ask if we wanted any.
