The spot made it easy to get onto the A30, and there are plenty of quick food places in and around the shopping centre across the bridge. I stayed three nights while exploring nearby. The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable, and service and breakfast were good. Parking is the main drawback: they explain the £18 per 24 hours before you book, and spaces fill quickly with vans and business visitors. You can also use the shopping centre car park across the bridge, paying according to its posted rates.

Jordan deserves a mention for helping us sort out a few problems, and the rest of the staff were really friendly too. We had a pleasant Christmas stay, with lots of attractions within walking distance. Our room was roomy and clean enough, with a kettle and tea and coffee supplies. Breakfast was the same each day, with croissants, bread, muffins, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. Some variety over the holiday period would have been nice, though that was a small gripe. We enjoyed our visit and hope to come back.

The breakfast buffet was included, and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby. It's close to the city centre. Rooms were clean, spacious and in the usual Holiday Inn style, with comfortable beds, strong WiFi and hot showers with good pressure. Check-in was quick, all the information was provided, and there's a lift to every floor. The small car park was taken up by students staying in the halls. I'd stay here again if I was in the area.

The staff are what made this stay feel so special. Everyone was warm and genuine, and they seemed to know what we'd need before we asked. I arrived worn out from travelling, and Jody at reception gave me such a lovely welcome and did everything to help me settle in. Dinner was delicious, and they were happy to swap the chips for salad without any fuss. My room was clean and comfortable, with soap, shampoo, an iron and a hairdryer. Breakfast was generous with lots of choice. It's meant to be a simple hotel, but the people made it feel spectacular. Thanks, I'll be back.
