We could walk to both the beach and town, so it was easy to park up and relax in Falmouth. The Red House rooms are fresh, clean and very well looked after, with spot-on facilities. The food was delicious in a lovely dining room, and it’s a great choice if you’re bringing a dog. We had a fabulous stay, with free parking and a perfect location, and we’ll definitely be back.

The room was clean and tidy, and our two-day stay was fantastic. Both hosts were lovely and ready to help, and they gave us useful information about the area and other things. I’d be glad to stay with them again if I come back to Falmouth.

We had a great two-night stay in a twin room. The hospitality and room were faultless, and breakfast was amazing. I had a perfectly cooked full English on the first morning, with good-quality bacon and sausages, then poached eggs on sourdough with smashed avocado the next day, also beautifully cooked. The only small drawback was having to cross the hallway to reach our private bathroom. That was fine for me, but my 12-year-old daughter didn’t want to dash back in her dressing gown, so she skipped a shower.

My husband, our teacup pomeranian and I stayed for 5 days while visiting our daughter. The house was beautiful, our room was spotless, and we enjoyed delicious breakfast each morning. The lovely couple who own and run the place made sure nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The room and house were very clean, though the decor felt a little tired. The toiletries were nice, the property is well situated and parking was fine. In August, though, the 15-tog quilts made for a hot, sticky night. One room’s shower took ages to warm up, and the other shower tray tended to overflow. There were only two biscuits for two guests and a small bottle of milk that wasn’t filled to the top. The security was especially concerning. The front door had blunt signs about it, yet my bedroom key opened someone else’s room, and their key opened mine. I didn’t try it on the other doors, but suspect it might have worked there too. There were surveillance cameras everywhere, so at least you’d know who had entered your room. I think the hotel should mention the cameras in its description so potential guests know about them. The house rules were very strict, with no flexibility at all, and apparently that’s how things are all the time, not because of Covid. I read the negative comments on booking.com, and they make interesting reading. I’ve never seen a B and B host yell at, shout at and intimidate paying guests, then slam the door in their faces, especially in front of other guests. It’s no way to treat people. You wouldn’t want to complain in case there was another outburst, and there was a general feeling that we weren’t welcome. The lady host seemed nervous. At checkout, we were told to leave the keys on the porch table and see ourselves out, and that the invoice had been emailed. There wasn’t even a question about whether we’d enjoyed our stay. Despite the nice toiletries and convenient location, the cold, unwelcoming atmosphere, the host’s rude outbursts and the military-style rules mean I wouldn’t return or recommend it. I think the hosts are in the wrong job, or have passed their peak in this industry.
