We ended up staying three nights at the Swan instead of two because we really didn't want to go home. The rooms feel rustic but are very comfortable, and breakfast is included. There’s a lovely spread, plus a huge cooked breakfast if you’re still hungry. The sausages were excellent, with thick bacon and black pudding. It works so well as a village pub, restaurant and hotel all at once. The food is a tasty take on classic dishes, served in generous portions, and the wine list has plenty of choice. We tried wines at different prices and liked them all. There’s a sommelier to help pick, too. The bar has a decent range of well-priced beers and wines, from good-value bottles to pricier ones. They also make a very good cocktail, including a proper martini. Everything was beautifully renovated, and the service was excellent throughout. It’s clearly a well-run inn, especially with what seems like a steady stream of guests. We’ll be back.

The food lived up to the good reviews. I had fish pie served piping hot, then a delicious chocolate mousse. The menu isn't huge, but it has some interesting choices, and the food was excellent. The bar and restaurant have a relaxed feel, with good draught beer and wine by the glass or bottle. Service was easygoing, efficient and professional. We went in with high expectations for lunch and weren't disappointed. Highly recommended.

Breakfast in the barn was a real highlight, with a big continental spread that included smoked salmon, ham, cheese, an egg boiler and Bloody Marys. Dinner on our first night was fab too. The rooms are beautiful, and throughout our stay the staff were attentive and friendly, always greeting us with a smile. Had a fantastic time at the Swan Inn, 100% recommend.

Rooms 11 or 12 are lovely split-level spaces, with a sitting room and courtyard garden. They're beautifully and thoughtfully furnished. The pub also serves lunch and dinner, and the staff are very welcoming. The breakfast barn is outstanding, with a generous continental spread of fruit, yoghurt, cold meat, cheese, delicious bread and boiled eggs. You can also add a cooked breakfast if you want one. It's an outstanding pub with rooms. The main downside is that getting around can be difficult if steps are a problem.

We've eaten here on three evenings, with groups of 3, 2 and 6. There’s a wide menu for meat, fish and vegetarian eaters, with dishes that aim for something more interesting than standard pub grub. Everyone in our groups praised the food, the service and the relaxed atmosphere. This is one of my top dining pubs in Sussex and Surrey.
