The North Euston Hotel

The hotel is in a quiet, peaceful spot with stunning bay views and sunsets. There’s lovely beach access right out front, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s pet friendly and close to Fleetwood outlets, while far enough from Blackpool to feel nice. Just the right distance from that run-down cesspool.

The people were the bright spot: the receptionist was lovely, and housekeeping kept the rooms in good order. The rooms themselves are comfortable, but I had to leave the window wide open to clear the smell. The ventilation seems to pull in the kitchen fryer, so the place smells of fresh frying or old oil soaked into the carpets and walls. We stay here for work, and the location has a lot of history and potential. The bathrooms are okay, though the shower pressure is poor. Breakfast used to balance out the smell, but now it seems reduced to a cheap, oily fry-up, and the service was fairly rude.

The staff were efficient and helpful, and housekeeping worked hard. They were lovely, and it’s a shame they end up taking the criticism. Our room still hadn’t been renovated, which was really disappointing. Breakfast was cheap, with very little choice for anyone who doesn’t want a fry-up. The singer in the bar the night before was exceptionally good, but New Year’s Eve itself was boring. The singer at the dinner dance was terrible, and the songs felt too old for younger-thinking oldies. The DJ seemed more focused on playing what his family wanted than what the guests wanted. The entertainment needs a change. The food wasn’t very good and wasn’t cooked well, although the service was good.

We only ate there today, and both dishes were lovely. The beef burger was generous and substantial, and the big battered fish was cooked beautifully.
