The Relish

We appreciated the owner sorting out our parking, but the rest of the stay fell well short of expectations. Check-in went smoothly, though 4pm seemed late. The room had an outdated TV, curtains that wouldn’t close properly and a broken shower door. The bathroom was cold, and the shower never got warm. Meanwhile the bedroom heating came on far too early and made the room uncomfortably hot, with no easy way to adjust it. The walls were very thin. We could clearly hear the neighbours having sex until around 3am, so sleep was almost impossible. It also seemed understaffed, with one person covering both check-in and breakfast, which didn’t leave a good impression.

The room was nice, but the cold made for an uncomfortable night. The radiator barely gave off any heat, and the bathroom was even worse, like an ice box. We arrived and checked in at 1830. Breakfast wasn’t available before 0830, but it was served promptly at that time. Parking is restricted on the street, though there are plenty of nearby restaurants for dinner.

We had most of the place for a wedding a few weeks ago, and the service was faultless. The manager was brilliant and took care of everything, from parking to having the rooms cleaned and breakfast arranged. It was five-star service, and I’d recommend it.

Our room was lovely and newly decorated, if a little small, and it was clean. Breakfast was great, and the dining room never felt overcrowded. What really stood out, though, was the friendly service. Raj welcomed us and paid attention to all the little details. I rarely give hotels five stars, but we had a great stay and will definitely be back.
