Jan was such an amazing host. We felt welcomed like family while still getting the professional service you don’t often find at a family run place. My husband and I had a really memorable trip, even with some iffy weather. We made the most of the many outdoor activities nearby, and the pub next door had tasty food and a range of theme nights. I also had a dreamy treatment at the salon. You’ll need a car, as local buses run only once an hour and go to limited destinations, but there’s plenty to see around here. Can’t wait to come back!

We spent three nights in the Jacobean Suite over our wedding weekend. Nigel and Jan were warm, friendly hosts who were always available without hovering. The house is amazing, and you can see the care in everything, from the decor to the finishing touches. It’s clean and comfortable, with soft pillows, and the rooms feel cosy and full of history. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful, served in a dining room with plenty of character. I’d happily return and would urge others to give this wonderful place a look.

The house’s history, together with the interesting family history, makes for a stay that goes beyond expectations. My wife and I loved being there, and Nigel and Jan were among the most generous, thoughtful people I’ve met.

Breakfast was outstanding, and the rooms have so much history and feel wonderfully cosy. We were made to feel welcome from arrival through our short stay. If you’re visiting the Forest of Dean, this is a beautiful historic place in Little Dean, and for the price it’s hard to do better.

We had such a lovely weekend, and a big thank you to our hosts. It felt like a home that’s loved and shared, and they couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. We relaxed in the comfy sitting room with cake, tea and coffee, with open fires morning and evening. Breakfast was a fantastic spread at a laid table, and the cooked meal set us up for the day.
