The building has loads of character and a memorable atmosphere, and it was excellent value for money. I stayed at The Speech House on a work trip with a group of around eight, and it was one of my best hotel experiences. Staff were kind and accommodating throughout, and made us feel welcome and well looked after. Our dinner at the restaurant was fantastic, both the food and service. From the start, the team were friendly and professional, and quick to respond to emails and calls. Our project was moving fast, so their help made a real difference, took pressure off the team and helped everything run smoothly. Many thanks to everyone. I'd happily stay again and highly recommend it.

The festive decorations and cosy atmosphere made for a joyful Christmas celebration. Our lunch was lovely from start to finish, with every course cooked perfectly, full of flavour and feeling special. The staff were outstanding, warm, attentive and friendly, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and make the day special. It’s a wonderful experience we'll cherish and highly recommend.

We got a two-night Travezoo deal with dinner both evenings. The dinners and breakfast were good, and the updated rooms are very comfortable and finished to a high standard. Like many older properties, parts of the House still need attention. To me, the main dining room is a missed chance to give the House a real selling point.

I've stayed here a few times, right in the heart of the Forest of Dean. The rooms are comfortable enough, although one I had smelled of wet dog, which wasn't great. The food is always tasty, and there seem to be loads of staff around.

My sister and I met for lunch because the hotel is roughly halfway between us, and it's a great location. I had the venison pasta and she went for good old fish and chips. A wonderful lunch, with attentive, very polite staff. A credit to a hotel in the middle of the Forest of Dean. We'd definitely recommend it and will be back. We only ate here, so I can't rate the rooms.
