We arrived in our motorhome on 23/01/2026, booked by my partner. The plots are roomy, with a good distance between them, and there are also huts, cabins and apartments that looked nice. Staff were welcoming and helpful when we checked in. We enjoyed a walk around the site and into the woodland. The large pool has two Jacuzzis, a sauna, accessible assistance chair, good showers and lockers, plus a swimsuit and shorts dryer. There are activities, so check reception for what's on and when. The spacious bar and restaurant has plenty of seats and a good drink selection at reasonable prices. We didn't eat, though the food looked nice. They also have themed nights at good prices, a cafe, a small shop and a kids' play area. We had a really good time and plan to return. It's in Lydney Parkend in the Forest of Dean.

We had a lovely stay at Whitemead and would come back, probably in an apartment or lodge next time. Our Mega Pods XL was a new experience for us, but felt too small for four people plus our dog, even though it sleeps four. It was more like camping. The underfloor heating didn't work, but the site brought us heaters and those did the job. Staff were kind and gave us a dog package on arrival. The location is beautiful, with a walk into the woods, and there's loads to do around the Forest of Dean. The pool, cafe, shop, restaurant and entertainment were all great. The pool was warm, the cafe had good coffee and cakes, the small shop covered the basics, and the restaurant served really good breakfast and dinner. Pods could suit a couple or people who like camping. Sorry I didn't take more pictures!

Our apartment, No. 50, needed a proper clean: there was food under the table, smeared windows, hairs by the sink and toilet, and the shower drain was blocked. Even so, we had a lovely weekend at Whitemead Forest Park in Lydney during February half-term, and we'd happily return with our own caravan or campervan. The setting is great for families, with plenty to see and do. The adventure trail goes around the site past nice places like the stream, river and lakes by the woodland lodges. It was muddy, so bring wellies. The facilities were good and the pool was lovely. Wildboar Coffee Shop is great for drinks and cake, but meals are better at Forester’s Bar since Wildboar food is brought over from there. Crazy Golf was fun, £6 for an adult and free for a child. The venue desk staff were friendly and helpful.

We got a great deal on a megapod through groupon, and it was good value, with room for up to four. It had all the basics and more: microwave, fridge, WiFi, decent TV reception, washing-up supplies, spare cushions, clothes dryer, tea, coffee and milk, plus an outdoor private picnic bench and BBQ area. The furniture and bedding felt good quality. It was warm with the thermostat and there was an extra plug-in heater. My only concern was the door had no inside lock or catch, which made sleeping uneasy in case someone wandered into the wrong pod in the dark. The forest setting is so secluded you feel away from it all, and the atmosphere in the club room was nice. We followed the nature trail around the park, but it was very muddy, so take walking boots or wellies. Staff were helpful, especially the pool lifeguards. The pool area looked brand new, with fab new camper van art on the wall. The steam room and sauna weren't too hot, which suited us, and the two jacuzzis were warm. Pool temperature was comfortable too. Adult-only first and last hours are a good idea, though the 8am session was busy. The shop was well stocked and the bacon and sausage looked good quality. Restaurant portions looked generous. We had a tea cake and some coffees, all nice, and there's a handy self-serve water station. Such a bargain, we'll definitely return. Remember to bring your own towels and flip-flops for the pool and showers.

It was a cold, wet January weekend in our motorhome, but we'd definitely return, perhaps for one of the tribute nights. The gravel pitches were a decent size, and there are plenty of walking and cycling trails. We used the gym, sauna, steam room and pool, all included in the price. The clubhouse had a good selection of beers on tap. The food looked good, though we didn't eat there.
