The staff were kind, and the food downstairs was top notch. We had a lovely weekend at the Inn, with clean, spacious rooms and a fantastic place to stay. It’s also perfectly placed for gorgeous walks through the countryside. On chilly nights, the wood burning fireplaces in the restaurant/pub were especially nice.

A proper pub, with quality food and service. I stopped for lunch on a Tuesday during a road trip, and it was fantastic. The beer was delicious, and there was plenty of variety on the menu, including local produce and meats. I liked it enough to ask about rooms so I could come back without having to leave soon. I’d highly recommend stopping in if you’re travelling down this road.

The Sunday roast looked great and tasted good, and the lady who served us was lovely. She fussed over our dog and brought her treats. But the portions were small for £17.50: the website described the chicken as a “half a roast chicken,” while I got just three small slices of breast. My husband’s lamb portion was very small too, so it didn’t feel like good value. The welcome was rough. The barman/owner told us where to sit and warned us not to move the table because the floor was over 200 years old. When I went to the bar to get drinks and a menu, he curtly asked what I was doing, then said something like, “it’s like that is it!” He wrote down our drinks order even though I was standing at the bar, and brought the drinks over. I later noticed a 10% service charge on the bill, making the drinks 10% dearer. The bill said the charge was discretionary, and we didn’t want to pay it, but the man made us quite uncomfortable, so we paid and left. We’d booked for Sunday 5th Oct evening, and the place was empty when we arrived. No wonder.

The hosts were very welcoming, and the price was hard to fault. It’s a lovely oldy worldy pub/hotel, with a cosy bar and log fires. Our room and the food were excellent, and breakfast couldn’t be faulted. Outside, there are lots of garden tables beside the river Coln.

The breakfast was fantastic, with quality ingredients and a good range to choose from. Dee looked after us really well, especially when checking which options were gluten free, and most of the food was. We also enjoyed the selection of food and drink, and our room was clean with a good bed. When the sun came out, the expansive beer garden was lovely to sit in. There are several scenic walks starting right from the doorstep.
