Stag & Thistle Hotel and Restaurant

The food is better than anywhere else in the area, and the serving staff made sure the evening was fabulous. It’s one of the best experiences you’ll find without going into the city. The venue is stunning, and you feel at home as soon as you walk in. The rooms are finished to a very high standard, and housekeeping keeps them super clean.

The interior and decor were lovely, but the visit was a bit disappointing. We went for coffee and cake and were surprised there were no dairy alternatives for allergies. We didn’t eat, so I can’t comment on the food or rooms. The staff weren’t very helpful.

We had peppercorn fillet steak with a range of vegetables, which tasted freshly cooked, as if they’d just come out of the ground. My husband’s venison was just as surprising and delightful. Then we finished with an amazing sticky toffee pudding, absolutely to die for. Everything is made from scratch with local ingredients by a chef who takes pride in how the food looks and tastes, and even comes out to speak with customers. Fantastic service and food. You definitely won’t regret eating at this amazing little restaurant.

Last weekend we ate at the stag and thistle, and the restaurant was stunning with immaculate vibes. We were served delicious home-cooked meals. Caitlin looked after us so well, greeting us with a charismatic smile, accommodating all our needs, and always happy to help. We’ll definitely be back.
