The Millcroft Hotel

If you’re travelling the NC500, stop here and try one of the curries. An award-winning Bangladeshi chef made what was probably the best curry we’ve ever had. Just outstanding!

The accommodation and location were superb, and the service was excellent. The manager and staff were all pleasant and welcoming. A really positive experience.

After breakfast I raised a polite, genuine complaint about a health and safety issue that hadn’t been resolved, and I was extremely unhappy with how it was handled. I didn’t expect a full refund, but they offered nothing, not even 5%. The room cost a shocking £190 for the night, with the following night priced at £172 or similar. I was asked to email head management, but they still haven’t replied to my detailed message. They seem fine with losing guests and receiving bad reviews. The hotel was cold, tired, and dirty, and the food was very basic. I’ve never left a hotel so unhappy with the service. These are several reasons I’d never recommend the place, including the health and safety concern.

The staff were attentive and friendly, and made us feel very welcome. We had a great overnight stay at the Millcroft during our NC500 trip. The room was comfortable, the bed was comfy, the bathroom was clean, and the views were lovely. Dinner at their bar was tasty in a nice atmosphere. The specials were Indian dishes, and my prawn madras was super tasty. Breakfast came with the room, was delicious, and was a huge portion. They toasted gluten-free bread separately for me so it wouldn’t be cross-contaminated by the toaster. We’d recommend the Millcroft for a stay, or even just a meal at their bar.
