A real gem. We had lunch when we arrived, with homemade pies, fresh vegetables, and proper chunky chips. Our room was lovely and clean too. We stayed overnight this weekend and will be back!

The Masons Arms has a wonderful local feel, with ancient walls, a proper inn atmosphere, welcoming, pleasant staff, and plenty of local beers, including a gluten free light ale. Of the pubs I've visited in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, this is one of the most impressive. Gluten free choices were the main options, so I went for fish and chips. They were cooked perfectly, with crisp golden batter and no soggy bottom, and the mushy peas were delicious, just like I remember from childhood. My friend had the homemade gluten free fish pie and raved about it all day. A wonderful little pub and a hidden gem. I'll be back!
The Sunday roast was lovely when I returned on 17th May 2026. I first rented a cottage in Gargrave with my family last year and booked a table here while we explored the area. Excellent home cooking. Definitely recommend.
During our walking holiday in Yorkshire, my husband and I had dinner at the Masons Arms one night. The pub felt warm and welcoming to walkers, and the service was great. We were blown away by the food quality: I had the cheese and potato pie, while my husband ordered the salt and pepper squid and a steak and ale pie. Everything was excellent. I can't recommend the Masons Arms highly enough.
On our last visit we just fancied a light bite, and the homemade Scotch egg was simply delicious. Mum, the owner's wife, made a fabulous rhubarb crumble. Honestly, it's the best I've ever tasted. Their Sunday roast is wonderful too, and in season there's homemade rhubarb crumble and custard or apple crumble and custard, with ice cream if you like. You'll find the Masons Arms in Gargrave. It's about a gentle 1.5-hour walk along the canal from Skipton, or you can catch a train or bus. Whether you live nearby or have travelled for hours, come and try it. I'm lucky to live only a few miles away and already look forward to my next visit. Enjoy!
