Ramada Encore by Wyndham Newcastle-Gateshead

We stayed two midweek nights in February. The beds were comfortable, Wi-Fi was good, and breakfast was included, with a reasonable choice and very friendly staff. The rooms were OK and had good towels, though there were little annoyances like no hook on the back of the door and a bedside light on one side but not the other. It’s handy for a concert at the glasshouse. Newcastle centre is an easy walk, and there’s also a convenient bus service. On-site parking costs £10 a night. I’d recommend it if the location works for you and you want to keep costs down.

The two women working morning and night shifts were especially friendly. Breakfast had a good spread and convenient hours, while the evening meals were just okay. I wish there had been a microwave available, perhaps in the rooms, for dietary requirements. I hadn’t expected to see a few people there for some kind of social care reasons. It’s a nice walk into the local area.

The food was good for the price, though the buffet area felt a bit small and there was some tension among guests in the queue. We were there as part of a Caledonian mystery tour, and had a lovely, comfortable room with clean, cosy surroundings and comfortable beds. Would book again.

The location was ideal, just a short, pleasant stroll from the city centre. The accommodation was spacious and well looked after. Service was particularly good, especially from the morning breakfast attendant, whose kindness and attentiveness stood out.
