The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the place was clean and in a great spot. Breakfast and dinner were both lovely, the chef really knows what they're doing. Only drawbacks were the pillows, which need replacing, maybe the mattresses too, and the parking. A great place to stop, just bring your own pillow x

Our room had a lovely view over the Beck and village, and was spacious, very clean, with a great shower and super towels. Sara welcomed us and was helpful throughout our two-night stay. Parking was a little tight, but we managed to find a space at the front of the pub. I needed to charge my electric car in Helmsley, about 4 miles away, which was no real problem. Dinner looked very well presented, though the portions were unfortunately small. Breakfast was served at the table with lots to choose from, plus cereals and fruit to help yourself to. The restaurant and bar were beautifully presented, and the whole break was well worth the money. Many thanks, and all the best for the future.

The countryside around here is really pretty, and it was easy to get to Byland, Thirsk and York. I booked The Fairfax exclusively so I could have lunch at The Abbey Inn in Byland, so I can't say what the area is like for outdoor activities. The pub and restaurant were lovely, with friendly staff. My room was cosy, the bed was comfortable, and everything was immaculate. Breakfast was included with plenty of options. I had porridge.

The brother and sister working there were especially appreciated. The staff were amazing throughout, even trying to find us a taxi, and the food was great. A lovely local pub experience, highly recommend.

The meals were delicious, and the staff were friendly and professional. I stayed for 2 nights in an excellent room with a very comfortable bed and an ensuite bathroom with both a bath and shower. They provided tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, bottled water and chocolates free of charge, along with shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and liquid soap. I'll definitely be back.
