The location worked really well: it was easy to travel to and from the airport by bus, and both the city centre and Kelvin Grove park were about 15 minutes away. The staff were lovely and helpful, and dealt with any problems straight away. The hotel has an older style, and the rooms could do with modernising.

I’ve already booked another fortnightly stay, as I don’t really have any complaints. The staff know about the issues I had with the TV remote and coffee machine, which wouldn’t cooperate. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast had a wide range of options. The hotel feels old-fashioned and could use fresh paint and new carpets. Being right next to Charing Cross station is very convenient.

I checked out in less than 24 hours after a really bad stay. When I woke the next day, I was covered in rashes. The hotel also felt very outdated, and the area immediately outside the entrance had drug taking, arguments and fights. The first room had mould and a dirty, strong urine smell as soon as I opened the door. I went to reception to ask for a change, and the receptionist kindly let me see the available rooms. I don’t understand how they can justify the price for a place in that condition. There were only a handful of paying guests, while the rest seemed to be people connected to the hotel through its Home Office contract.

After more than two months, I still haven’t received the 50% refund the hotel initially said it would give us. For weeks, management sent messages saying it was on its way, would arrive in 3-5 days, or within 14 days. Their last excuse was that the manager was on vacation, and now they’ve stopped replying to my emails. We are pursuing legal action and plan to share the photos, emails and other evidence with the relevant authorities. This was a one-week business trip to Glasgow, and we ended up staying six nights because we had no time to change hotels. Housekeeping never came during that time, and they didn’t even take out the rubbish. We had to buy cleaning products and clean the room ourselves. The room was filthy, sticky and poorly maintained, with mucus stains on the walls and filth in the toilet. It also had a disgusting smell as soon as we walked in. We told reception, who promised to deal with it, but nobody came. We arrived before the official check-in time and were allowed into the room, yet management later claimed we hadn’t checked in on the first day of our reservation. After we left, I emailed management a detailed account, photos and proof of the room’s condition. The way they handled this has been unprofessional and disrespectful, and I’ve never encountered such a dirty hotel. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The staff were mostly extremely friendly, which earns the second star. We only managed two nights; staying longer would have been unbearable. Some furniture was broken, the sheets were stained, and the thermostat didn’t work properly, so the heating ran full blast all night. There wasn’t even a toilet brush.
