DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Westerwood Spa & Golf Resort

The restaurant was the part that let me down most and ended up spoiling the whole day. It looked dated and needed a good clean, though the welcome was fine and the waiting staff were nice. The menu was very poor, and I didn’t enjoy my food. When I asked to buy a portion of onion rings, they said no. I also asked for water and was just shown where to get it. The spa reception staff were lovely, my therapist Haley was lovely too, and the treatment was great. The leisure facilities, though, are very old and dated. I was there on a Wowcher deal for a spa day with lunch.

The breakfast had loads of choice, stayed hot and nothing ran out. We were welcomed warmly and the staff were attentive throughout. The bed was very comfortable, although it could use a choice of pillows, as the sister pillows were very soft. Some parts of the rooms need a bit of care, but that didn’t take away from a fantastic hotel, spa, golf course and restaurant. There was a big 21st birthday party one night, but we couldn’t hear it in the rooms. We stayed with a dog, and the door signs were a great touch, letting staff know whether they could come in. The welcome flavoured water and Scottish Tablet were lovely too. Can’t wait to return.

The lunch was tasty and filling, and I thought the deal was good value. We had a spa day with access to the pool and sauna, a three-course lunch, and two 25-minute treatments. Julie was absolutely fabulous during the full-body salt rub and the back, neck and shoulder massage. She made me feel brand new. The staff were welcoming at both receptions and guided us to the spa. One person in our group felt faint, and the masseuse and Helen both checked on her and looked after us really well.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had service this good. The team serving dinner at the Westerwood Resturaunt were clearly young, but they made up for it with professionalism, efficiency, attentiveness and charm. They’re a real credit to the Hotel. Five stars, and they all deserve a raise and a big pat on the back.
