Goose Hut 3, one of the Shepherd huts, looked compact outside but was thoughtfully decorated and had everything we could want. The grounds were spectacular in all the weather we had, from frost and snow to rain and a fine day. Walking along the edge of Loch Lomond was peaceful and thought-provoking. Inside, the shower room at one end was well equipped with lovely soft towels. The comfortable bed at the other had coordinated bedding that matched the feature wallpaper. There was plenty of heating, great cooking facilities, a kettle and biscuits, plus two chairs and a table for eating. The whole stay was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, and we’d happily return.
The hut had everything I needed, and the bed was warm and really comfortable. I also found the bathroom clean, and it was an easy walk to Balmaha and the start of the Conic hill path. I’d happily use the sauna again, especially since I had it to myself. A couple of small things took the edge off: the fragrance in the room was strong for my nose, though unplugging it sorted that after a few hours. Garden work during the day was noisy, and workers passing by meant a little less privacy. Some dishes felt greasy and could have done with a proper wash. Still, I really enjoyed staying here on my own and would definitely come back. Thanks!
The hot tub was divine, and the lodge was cosy, very comfortable, and perfectly clean. There were lots of thoughtful supplies too, including tea, coffee, soap, milk, and dishwasher tablets, so we never had to worry about running short. We only had a few hours after check-in to work out what we needed. By then the office had closed, and it wasn’t open on Sunday, so we couldn’t get a stair gate. It was a small issue, and we’ll definitely be back.
The walk down to the loch was short and lovely, and the copper bath outside was a huge hit with my little boy. He loved it so much he wanted to get in at 6am the next morning. You still get some privacy while enjoying the views, too. We stayed in the beautiful birch cabin with my two year old, and it was even better than I expected. Everything was immaculate, warm, and welcoming. The kitchen was fully equipped and well organised, so we only needed to bring food. Clean linen, towels, toiletries, tea, coffee and milk were provided, and the robes and slippers were a lovely extra. The instructions and policies were clear before our stay as well. The sauna wasn’t ready yet, so I’ll have to come back for that. Balmaha is one of my favourite places for a break, and this was a peaceful, beautiful stay.
The grounds are lovely, with a beach right on the property and a short walk down to the waterfront. At sunset we watched two herons and around 50 geese just off the beach. The photos really show how beautiful it was. The property is gated at night and you need a code to get out, which gave us some peace of mind in case our dog slipped its collar near the road. The lodge itself was spotless and spacious, with huge comfortable beds, great shower pressure, and a hot tub running all day so we could use it whenever we liked. The kitchen had more utensils than our own home, and the welcome pack for our dog, with treats, bowls and a towel, was a nice touch. We’ve stayed in plenty of lodges and Airbnbs around the UK, and for the price this one beats them all. We had an amazing time and will definitely return. Thanks again from Liam, Ryleigh and Luna.
