George & Pilgrims Hotel

The walls are full of things to look at, including some really funny posters, so take a moment to read them. The place has an old inn atmosphere that made me feel like a lord dining in medieval times. My tree meat roast was tasty and nicely prepared, and the staff were helpful and friendly. There’s a good choice of beers and ciders too. Settle in, have a meal and a pint, and treat yourself.

On a scorching, busy day we stopped in for a quick lunch and were really impressed. The fish finger sandwich and steak and cheese wrap were both beautifully made and presented, and the strawberry ice cream was delicious. Huge thanks to Kyle and the rest of the team for great food and service despite the heat and challenging conditions. We’ll definitely be back on our yearly trip to Glastonbury, and might even try the hotel.

The pub feels cozy and festive, and I was pleased with every part of my visit. My burger was lovely, and the gluten free bun actually held together. The cheesecake was extraordinary too. It isn’t a cheap meal, but the quality of both the food and service made it feel worthwhile. Julie and Kyle looked after me so well, and Emma and Rory did a great job in the kitchen. The team makes an effort with every customer, whether the place is packed or quiet. I love coming to the G&P.

We had a 7:30 booking, but the menu was limited because they’d run out of quite a few items. Two of us ordered fish and chips, which had an odd taste, and the fish pie tasted strange as well. The scampi was badly overcooked. They also don’t clearly flag the 10% service charge, it’s printed in tiny writing at the very bottom of the menus. On the brighter side, I heard the sticky toffee pudding was lovely.
