My wife and I had a Sunday lunch that was fantastic, honestly among the best we’ve tasted. The two young men serving our table were cheerful, helpful and very kind. The pub itself is a lovely traditional English building, restored with care. The bar service was a different story. The youngish woman there looked very unfriendly. I ordered a Pepsi, which came with ice even though nobody asked if I wanted any. When I politely asked her to take it out, she rolled her eyes and poured the whole drink away. Not a great start. Her sullen manner stood out against the food servers. I’ve given four stars for service and for the overall experience because of that; otherwise it would have been five all round.

The view over the garden and Glastonbury Tor from our window was stunning. We stayed one night and loved every second. Our room was cosy, lovingly decorated with lots of attention to detail, and had everything we needed. The staff made us feel so welcome, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Highly recommend!

This used to be our go to place, which makes the change such a shame. It was very good, with excellent food and service, but now the service is poor, the food is overpriced, and the menu feels repetitive.

We were so grateful they could fit our family of five in for dinner without a reservation on a Wednesday evening, after we’d been travelling all day. It’s a beautiful historic building, and we had an excellent experience. Good portions and great service.
