Jersey Accommodation and Activity Centre

We camped on the grounds rather than staying in the hostel. It’s a peaceful, lovely spot in a great location for Gorey Harbour, with clean toilets, showers and a fridge.

We were in Gorey Castle for work and were glad we found this place to stay. The price was great for what we needed, and someone welcomed us straight away and showed us around. Breakfast was modest but offered a good range and set us up for the morning. The games room and WiFi room felt homely too. I’d definitely recommend it.

The rooms were quiet, the beds were nice and everything was clean. The shower was okay, and there are lovely castle views from nearby, plus a dolmen close by. Breakfast ran from 8 to 9 am, with a moderate selection that stayed the same each day and no pastries. WiFi was only available in the common area, and a machine with basic food and drinks would be useful. Coming by bus, take the 13 if you can: it stops at the top of the hill, runs less often and finishes early. The 1 goes to the pier, where there’s a steep climb.

The food deserves a special mention. We had 47 teenagers with different dietary needs, and the team handled them brilliantly. The kids loved the meals. I’ve taken groups on trips like this for years, and I can highly recommend JAAC. We’d just finished a five day stay with young musicians from East Riding of Yorkshire. The hostel suited our needs perfectly, the accommodation was great and the staff were fantastic, always friendly and helpful.
