We’re already talking about coming back to try more of the menu, and to enjoy a drink in the garden when the weather warms up. Parking is ample, a huge plus in South Hams, and we feel lucky to live nearby. The new owners took over in Oct 2025, and what a difference. Every staff member we met was friendly and polite, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. The food was excellent. We’re a family who love food and cooking, as do our friends, so it says a lot that we all enjoyed our meals and didn’t leave wishing we’d cooked better at home. Thanks to the whole team for such an enjoyable meal.

The staff were all so friendly and attentive, and I hope to come back soon. I had a delicious Sunday Roast at the Church House Inn on 22nd Feb. Everything was cooked just right, with no soggy vegetables and lovely crispy roasties.

The relaxed feel, good music, and great staff all added to the experience, even though it was busy. The service was excellent and everyone was well looked after. Since the new owners took over in October 2025, the place has been transformed. The menu is fabulous, using local produce wherever possible, and everything is made in house. The Sri Lankan fish curry is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. 10 out of 10!

The food menu is very much aimed at fish lovers, and there were only two whiskies, so I ended up with an Arran 10 year old. The bar staff were friendly and helpful, and I liked the bright cushions and lighting. But as we arrived, a customer was very upset about his food and didn’t want to pay the full bill. The discussion with staff got heated. When I tried to get past to reach the toilets, a staff member didn’t move aside, and I had to interrupt the conversation to say excuse me.

The Church House Inn feels like a cosy, welcoming pub now, with fantastic food and attentive staff. I’ve been visiting for years, and last night’s delicious dinner came with the warmest welcome from the lovely team. We all had a lovely evening. Thanks, we’ll definitely be back.
