Jacksons Cafébar & Guesthouse

We found this cafe by chance just before heading home, and the food was the best we had on the whole trip. The toasted sandwiches were so good, and the chips and halloumi fries we shared were just as tasty. Everything tasted fresh, especially with the pickled vegetables and coleslaw. Easily the best sandwich I've had. The service was friendly and amazing too. Definitely worth a visit.

We sat outside for lunch, with a lovely view of the mountain and people passing by. The staff were so helpful: they brought our dog a sausage and a bowl of water, and there were several dog snacks to choose from. Our sandwiches came with well-dressed salad and excellent coleslaw. We also shared chips, some of the best I've had, and I take my chips seriously. The milkshakes were refreshing too. If you're visiting for the shortbread, it's only a minute's walk from here, and I'd definitely recommend stopping for lunch.

We'd been coming to the cafe for years, and recently returned for the first time since it changed owners. The menu has grown, and the food is still absolutely delicious. It's great that dogs are welcome. Our little Daisy has been coming regularly since she was only a few months old. Today Jo greeted us warmly and looked after us with a smile. We're already looking forward to coming back.

We had a wonderful stay and hope to return next year. Our balcony had incredible views, and the rooms were spotless and thoughtfully equipped, with spacious en-suites. Breakfast in the cafe downstairs was lovely. My friend chose the full English, while I had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. What a great find in the heart of Grasmere!
