The breakfast was a highlight: the granola yoghurts were lovely, the eggs royale delicious, and the full English was great too. The welcome cake and lemon water were a nice touch, and the cake was delicious. Well done to the chef for the nicest cake and breakfast we’ve had in a while. Our breakfast server was a delight, as were the other staff. The Victorian House is well placed, with parking, village amenities close by and easy access to shops, places to eat and walks. We had a very pleasant welcome from the receptionist, who showed us around and took us to our room. We chose a twin room, beautifully decorated like the rest of the house. The interiors are exquisite, with simple touches and decor that really suits the property. The lounge and breakfast room conservatory were my favourite spaces. It felt like great value, a lovely cosy hideaway, and we can’t wait to return. Next time we’d be happy to try the shepherd's hut at the back. There were a couple of small issues. The ceiling light in our room didn’t work, but since we were only staying one night, helpful staff brought us a lamp instead. The TVs are small and old, and ours lost its signal for the evening, so an upgrade would be welcome. We also didn’t sleep well because a water van was pumping flood water outside all night. That wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but our room faced the main road and had single glazed sash windows, so the noise was the only real letdown.

We both felt relaxed throughout our stay, and I think the hotel had a lot to do with that. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful, and seemed to enjoy working there rather than just treating it as a job. The rooms were spacious, very clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast had a good variety and generous portions. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Victorian House, would recommend it, and will be back.

The upper floor Stargazer room was beautifully decorated, with a large window looking out over the village and mountains. We also loved having breakfast in the bright, beautiful dining room on the first floor. There are a couple of parking spaces at the back, and we were lucky to get one. The hotel is very central, and we enjoyed walking around Grasmere. We spent four nights in different places while touring the Lake District, and this was easily our favourite. If we return to Grasmere, it’s the only place we’d stay. There’s no elevator, though it didn’t affect us, and the staff kindly carried our luggage up to the room.

The place was clean, and breakfast was really nice. We had a lovely night here with our dog and would happily come back. Everyone was so friendly, especially the woman whose name I’ve forgotten, sorry. She was wonderful and really went out of her way for us.

Parking was limited, though it worked out fine since we could leave the car on the road opposite until 10am. The staff were all incredibly friendly, and breakfast had good quality and choice. The B&B is beautifully kept, with pleasant rooms and atmosphere, in a peaceful, picturesque part of Grasmere that’s well located.
