The Inn on the Lake Hotel

The hotel has some character, and with money spent on cleaning and updating, it could be a little gem. But as it is, it doesn't meet the standard I'd expect from a modern hotel. The room had no carpet, and its plastic floor was split and lifting. The heating didn't work, the charge point in the room was broken, and the bed had seen better days. The loo was filthy, old and tired, which summed up the place for me. Breakfast was disappointing too. If you're staying more than one day, you're better off paying a little more for better accommodation.

The lake was very nice, with plenty of birds around to watch, and for a value hotel this isn't bad at all. The rooms are dated, though they're spacious and the beds are fairly good. The food was below Wetherspoons quality and cost a lot more, which is a shame. If the price is lower than the local Premier Inn, it may be worth a look, but I'd eat somewhere else.

We went to the Christmas event and had a great night. The staff were efficient and friendly. The rooms are lovely and large, though the hotel looks a bit dated and could do with modernising. Soundproofing isn't great. Lake view rooms have tables and chairs outside on a long patio shared by all the rooms. It's lovely until guests in other rooms are drinking and making noise outside until 3am. For a quieter stay, get a room upstairs.

We had a brilliant works Christmas party, with an 80's and 90's theme. The dance floor was packed, the atmosphere was great, and the staff were attentive. The food was lovely and piping hot. We'd definitely recommend it and come back again. Thanks.
