Aldwark Manor Estate

The outdoor sauna, especially its swing seat, was a highlight, and the spa was impressive, clean, and packed with facilities. My husband and I spent a wonderful afternoon here a couple of weeks ago. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. We’re already looking forward to returning, and would highly recommend it.

Harry at the bar made brilliant cocktails, and the restaurant food was amazing and reasonably priced. We had a lovely anniversary weekend, staying in a beautiful suite. There were complimentary chocolates and a card waiting in the room, which was a nice touch. The pool, sauna, and steam room were amazing too. Staff were fantastic, attentive, and efficient. We’ll stay again, thank you!

The afternoon tea was a real treat, and we were given plenty of time to sit and catch up. Our table was ready in the Chartwell restaurant, where a friendly chap showed us over. We ordered tea from Taylor’s of Harrogate, and the room had lovely, sumptuous furnishings. The grounds looked beautiful as we arrived at the estate. Afterward, someone from the team showed us around the hotel, including a very mystical secret whisky/speakeasy room hidden behind a bookcase. We also had a look around the spa, and are thinking about coming back for it and perhaps an overnight stay to make proper use of the facilities. Everyone was welcoming and friendly.

We came to look over the hotel and restaurants before making a dinner reservation, but left surprised and disappointed by how little hospitality we felt. On arrival, neither the female receptionist nor the elderly concierge (I’m not sure of the spelling) offered a warm greeting, even though it was clear we didn’t know where to go. We had to find our way around ourselves. At the lounge bar, we waited a long time to be served despite there being only three other couples there. The barman didn’t seem to care and wasn’t especially welcoming or friendly. For such a high-class hotel, the experience lacked warmth.
