Shelford Lodge

When I was asleep, someone banged on my window. I called reception about it, and the gentleman came to my door shouting, “What is your problem?” He then spent the next hour shouting at everyone in our corridor and was extremely rude again in the morning. We were ready to check out, but he was demanding the keys. I reported all of this to Booking.com. The room didn't match the photos at all. It looked filthy, like a homeless person's room. I told management, and they moved me, but the new room still wasn't right. I stayed because I needed somewhere to sleep and planned to complain to Booking.com.

The bathroom smelled worse than a service station, and the extractor wasn't running. There was a hanger left on the TV mounting bracket, and the towels had just been tossed onto the beds. The shower had black mold and some yellow stuff I couldn't even identify. Breakfast was awful too, with what looked like olives fermenting where they sat. Honestly, it seemed like the staff just didn't care. I wouldn't recommend this place.

There was rubbish all over the car park, and reception was unmanned, so there was nobody to report the problems to. In the morning we had no water, hot or cold. The toilet wouldn't flush, and the electric shower didn't work either. The place was scruffy and dirty. A totally dreadful experience. Avoid it at all costs.

The pictures made the hotel look lovely, but the reality was so disappointing that we walked in and then walked straight back out. We checked reviews afterward, and people were saying the same and more. We arrived to book in on Fri 13th February. The note and key were in the car park, which was very scruffy. The lift was broken and looked as though it had been for a long time. The place smelled musty and didn't look very clean. Our room was small, had no tea or coffee facilities, and the towels were very worn. The photos on all the booking sites are misleading advertising. Someone needs to replace them with pictures of what it really looks like.
