The Mayfair Hotel

We only stayed one night in the deluxe double, and it worked well for what we needed. Wendy was lovely when we spoke by phone. Check-in and checkout were contactless, which I was fine with, and everything went smoothly. Pretty happy with the room.

We booked at the last minute after the car broke down, and the earlier reviews had made us hesitate. The top floor was much roomier than expected, with a double room, a single room, a full kitchen, and a shower room with toilet. It was clean, comfortable, and we had no bug problems. The views stretched for miles, and the house is nicely decorated. We especially liked the old singer sewing machine in the hall. The corridor smelled of cigarettes and deodorant, though the room itself was fine. Staff were fantastic, and the code locks made us feel secure in the area at night. We were only there for one night, but I'd return.

We booked last minute and had the top floor. It smelled of urine, damp and smoke, and the place felt run down. The beds were really uncomfortable, and the sheets didn't look clean, so we bought bedding at the shops. Could be a great little gem, but I wouldn't stay again.

I spent two weeks here. The location is great, and the place was spotless thanks to the cleaners. Everyone was friendly, and it was good value. I'd recommend it.
