We had a great night at the boot and shoe in. The food that evening was delicious, breakfast was just as good, and the staff were very friendly. It's a great dog-friendly village pub to stop at. There was an electrical problem in the morning that kept setting an alarm off from the early hours, though it couldn't be helped. The power came back, so we could shower around 6:30 or 7. The kitchen staff and music can be quite loud early in the morning and in the evening. Our room was closest, and the radio could perhaps be quieter first thing.

We turned up with a large group and fussy eaters after booking a big table at the very last minute, and the owner took it all in stride. He came back to check everything was up to standard and swapped anything that wasn't right. They made us feel welcome. It's a small country pub, not a big chain with lots of staff, so fair play to them for handling us so professionally.

This was our second visit, and the food and staff were great. The locals are really friendly too, and will even pull you a pint when the staff are busy. Booking a table online is easy. You'll need a car to get there, and it's a B&B. Looking forward to returning for a stay soon.

We went with our dog and partner around 6pm on Monday without booking, thinking it wouldn't be busy. By 7 the small place was full, mostly with friendly locals. There were baskets of games for children and adults, and the polite, friendly servers were rushed off their feet. The food was delicious. I had sausage and mash, but the chef made me black pudding mash instead of mustard mash, and my partner had the chicken burger. Prices for food were average, though drinks were expensive. Taking a star off because the place could use some TLC.
