Premier Inn Portsmouth Dockyard

The location was fantastic for exploring, right by the seafront and across the road from the Historic Dockyard. Breakfast was good too. The full English was fresh and well stocked, and the chef was welcoming and friendly. A few things let down our birthday weekend. I’d told them by email that we were celebrating my birthday and shared our preferred breakfast time. They replied to acknowledge it, but none of that seemed to reach the hotel. It wasn’t noted at check-in, and the birthday wasn’t recognised, which was disappointing. The bed was quite uncomfortable, with a noticeable dip on one side of the mattress. I was recovering from sciatica, so I slept badly and felt very tired the next day. The bedding on my daughter’s bed also had a few rips.

We checked in at the machine, which worked fine, and found the staff extremely helpful. There’s a car park nearby, and the Wharfe is an easy walk away. The restaurant was great, with good food and service, and breakfast was brilliant too. We thoroughly enjoyed our Portsmouth trip and our stay here. Thanks for making it such an enjoyable visit. We’ll be back.

My family room was huge, presumably because it had extra beds. It was spotless and quiet, with a bath and shower over it. Every time we dealt with staff, they were pleasant and efficient. The only downside was the lack of a car park. The nearest is the Historic Dockyard, about 100 m down the road, where a QR code gets you a small discount off the usual price.

This is a reasonably priced hotel in a good spot for The Dockyards and the Hard Interchange transport hub, with a grocery store and plenty of places to eat nearby. We often stay at Fairfield Inn's in the States and had heard of Premier Inn, of course. They keep staffing lean to hold prices down, so the staff are running around doing everything. Even so, the rooms, lobby and plumbing are all quite good.
