Farmhouse Innlodge by Greene King Inns

The food was barely warm, and the hash browns were missing. What we did get tasted reheated, and the bacon had started turning black underneath, as you can see in the photo I took. We couldn’t find any staff to speak to. By then we felt sick and had to leave. We went to the farmhouse for breakfast two days ago, and won’t be going back.

We were seated quickly and ordering was easy, but we waited an hour and ten minutes for the food. The sauces had a thick texture and a film on top, as if they’d been under heat lamps too long. Everything our party ordered was either undercooked or overcooked, with a really unpleasant texture. We wouldn’t come again.

There were three of us altogether, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. They chatted with my brother, who was staying at the hotel. The hot drinks were a letdown: his tea was cold and only half a cup, while my coffee was mostly froth. We ended up getting two pints of lager instead.

The food itself was decent, but the service was appalling. We were a group of three separate family orders, and understood they might arrive at different times. I ordered first, yet the others got their meals before ours. My family had finished eating before my son’s and my dinner finally came, after I asked where it was and was told bluntly that it would be out shortly. There was no apology, and we waited another 15 minutes. My husband’s meal still hadn’t appeared, so I asked again. They said they’d check, then about five minutes later someone I believe was the manager asked what was missing. It looked as if his order had been missed entirely and hadn’t even been started. The manager went into the kitchen, came out a few minutes later, then wandered around the pub without updating us. His dinner arrived about ten minutes after that, with a very poor apology. The manager was rude and obnoxious, and from what I saw, the staff didn’t seem to like dealing with him either. I didn’t complain because his attitude made me think he wouldn’t put things right. We won’t be back.
