Lillys Pad

The old coach house has lots of stairs and changes in level, so it may not suit anyone with mobility difficulties. For us, though, it was a lovely overnight stay at Lily's Pad. Becky welcomed us and showed us to Camomile, our room, and the private bathroom. My husband and I both slept really well, then enjoyed a tasty English breakfast. The price was very reasonable, and we'd recommend it. We'll definitely come back when we're visiting relatives nearby.

Becky looked after us well, and the freshly cooked breakfast was good. I do wish the floor had carpet. Our two tiny dogs slept in their own beds and didn't make a mess, but nothing was provided for them, and we were still charged £20 for extra cleaning. I don't understand that.

We came with our two dogs and had such a good time that we're already looking forward to coming back. The village has a nice atmosphere, with a couple of pubs about five minutes away, a chip shop near one of them, and a Co-op directly across the road. We booked one night as a surprise for my wife after a week in Whitby, while travelling on to our little place on the coast. From the minute we arrived until we left, Mark and Becky took great care of us. The room, the food, and the hospitality were all fantastic, and breakfast was a real wow. We especially loved the home-cooked food at Lilly's Pad, from the delicious breakfast in the bright tearoom to Becky's jacket potatoes and cakes. The rooms we've stayed in, 'Jasmine' and 'Lady Grey', are delightful and have an old-fashioned feel. Mark greeted us with a big, warm smile and a great sense of humour, and he and Becky were always happy to help. We've tried other B&Bs nearby, but this is now our favourite and our first choice for availability. The old building is full of history, and right at the entrance there's a charming little Ice Cream Parlour/Sweet Shop. The 'Cherry Bakewell' and 'Lemon Crunch' flavours are so good, and it was handy to pick up a box of chocolates as a gift too. We had everything we needed under one roof.
